Although Lockdoor Canada was founded in 2001,  the story began fourty six years earlier when Phil Clappison, a young tool and die maker in Georgetown Ontario, began selling aluminum storm doors in the evenings after work. Within 3 years he co-founded Viceroy Aluminum Ltd, a window manufacturer based in Guelph Ontario with two other partners. Phil kept manufacturing until 1971 and remained in the industry until 1978.

As a young boy his son, Steve, went with Phil on sales calls, worked in the factory and later worked his way through university by selling windows out of a suitcase to builders and home owners. After working out of province for several years, Steve returned to obtain a business degree from Western Ontario and then entered the fields of industrial development and commercial contracting. 

As a commercial contractor, Steve renewed his fascination with doors and hardware. In 1996 he made the decision to become a hollow metal door and hardware distributor, and over the next 5 years he work hard to learn the industry, build sales and obtain manufacturer approvals . When a large, local competitor suddenly went bankrupt in 2000, he was ready. On January 1, 2001 Lockdoor Canada Ltd became a reality. 

Today, fourty six years later, Lockdoor Canada is a group of dedicated industry professionals with a full service hollow metal and wood shop, warehouse and hardware department. We serve general contractors, property managers and end users throughout Central Western Ontario from our Waterloo location. We are safety conscious, committed to excellence and customer friendly in everything.
